Why do you think One Direction are more liked/popular than JLS? I mean, both bands came from The X Factor and cater to the teenage girls but it seems that 1D are far more popular than the JLS boys these days. I mean, the 1D boys all have a 2 million followers each and their new album sold three times more than what the recent JLS album did. Also, it seems that it's alright for people to listen to 1D but people always feel ashamed to listen to JLS. they regard them as cheesy.

This is a good question that I honestly don’t know the answer to. Maybe just because JLS were always older than 1D? A lot of it is in perception - you can call One Direction a “guilty pleasure” because they’re teens and marketed to a younger crowd, but JLS have always been early 20s so there’s no “irony” in liking them.
Also, JLS are far more of a traditional boyband (co-ordinating outfits, harmonies, dance routines) which a lot of people will be turned off by automatically.
Shame, because JLS are the better group if you ask me I just fancy One Direction more.
