1. Coldplay - I understand why they appeal to most people, but they certainly don’t appeal to me.
2. Taylor Swift - argh, I can’t find the article Susi linked me to now, but the fact that she’s a “boy crazy, girl bashing virgin” is a lot to do with it. Her music is average, her lyrics are banal.
3. Lana Del Rey - in total fairness, she’s really interesting. I kind of like the “science” behind Lana Del Rey, and the story and the hype and everything is intriguing but her music is boring, and again - such banal lyrics.
4. Justin Bieber - sometimes I think I get it, but most of the time I definitely don’t. Apart from anything else, I’ve only ever heard one Bieber song that I didn’t despise, and that was the Never Say Never one. And I only liked that ‘cause of Jaden Smith’s rap.
5. Beyonce - over. rated. I mean, I don’t not like her but I don’t understand why everyone else loves her SO much. For the most part she has a terrible back catalogue.
6. Rihanna - ditto the above, apart from the back catalogue thing. Rihanna’s back catalogue is mostly AMAZING.
7. Florence + The Machine - like Coldplay, I kinda get it, I just don’t like it.
8. The Beatles - I have tried to get into them but I just can’t. Don’t even get it.
9. Hurts - something just didn’t click. It’s so weird because the people who love Hurts are mostly people whose opinions I trust and respect and yet I feel so betrayed by them because they don’t do anything for me.
10. Take That/Gary Barlow - I mean god, they’ve just been so BORING since their comeback. Pretty much everything Barlow written is boring. The Progress album was great though - gonna put that down to Robbie’s involvement.
I do have Beyonce and Rihanna on my iPod (I own all their albums except the most recent) so with them it’s less that I dislike them and more I just don’t like them as much as the rest of the world does.
